Karo – a Key Destroyer of the True Religion

By Adir Dahouh-Halevi

This article is essentially a continuation of the article: "Is Shulchan Aruch Really 80% Rambam?" as well as another article that joins the series on Shulchan Aruch: "Karo – Among the Biggest Desecrators of Heaven's Name". The goal of the heretics, including Karo, was and remains to destroy and obliterate all the intellectual foundations of the Torah and to uproot all laws concerning foreign-worship from the Torah of Moshe – and all this because they decided to turn themselves into "holy saints" and possessors of "hidden powers”, or in other words: idols.

Their portrayal as "greats of the world”, from whom all secrets are not hidden, served their unstoppable pursuit of power, respect and wealth that spread within them. In other words, to turn the teachings of God into a spade to dig with and to convince the masses that they are indeed as Tzadikim and Hassidic as Moshe Rabenu and even better, they had to destroy the mind and perpetuate ignorance and folly and there is no other way to achieve this goal rather than destroy the intellectual foundations of the Torah and to uproot the laws of Foreign-Worship from the Torah. These two matters allowed them to transform themselves into idols whose words cannot be questioned or examined – and after they established themselves as ministers and false prophets, the path to reshaping the Torah of Moshe according to their desires was wide open, and the path to achieve power and respect and to transform the religion into a spade was breached and conquered.

However, one central fact disturbed the heretics very much: the Sages Z”L established an entire tractate in the Talmud called "Foreign-Worship Tractate". Therefore, it was impossible for the heretics to completely erase the Halachot of Foreign-Worship from their books, as they did with all the intellectual and moral foundations of the religion, and if they had done so – their deceit and folly would have been exposed for all to see. So what did they do? They employed a very sophisticated tactic, the practical outcome of which was the actual destruction of all the laws of foreign-worship from the true Torah, and most importantly, the destruction of the foundations of foreign-worship that reveal their heresy.

Regarding the erasure of the intellectual and moral foundations of the Torah, well, here the heretics had a fairly open path to burn and eradicate them, since there is no God Knowing Tractate or Unification of God Tractate and etc., there are only verses and Oral Torah tradition that can easily be falsified by those skilled in deceit. Therefore, regarding to knowing God and unification of Him as well as other intellectual and moral foundations of the religion (such as the thirteen foundations of faith and the obligation to restrain desires), all they had to do was erase them from their books, and if anyone wondered, they would find some slippery excuse, as they always do, with which they will wave and manipulate – for the gates of heretical excuses did not lock: "Who is smart and will understand these things? understanding individual will know them, since the ways of the Lord are straight, Tzadikim will walk in them and the the criminals will stumble in them" (Hos. 14).

And so they did indeed, they erased all the intellectual foundations of the Torah and distorted and corrupted Halachot of Foreign-Worship until they achieved their goal: the creation of generations of pro-Christian orthodox bipeds, ignorant and devoid of knowledge and understanding, A herd of fools who can be controlled and maneuvered and easily influenced by any pagan hallucination. Thus, they turned themselves into “world geniuses" and "holy saints" and "Torah mighty" and similar delusions – for sick minds filled with vanity will easily believe all lies and adopt idolatry as a natural thing, and as the bitter cry of Jeremiah (2, 5): "They went after the vanity and became vain themselves".

In his interpretation on Tractate Sanhedrin, Chapter 10, 1, the Rambam teaches that anyone who doubts even one of the thirteen foundations of the Torah is considered a heretic and an Epicurean and must be hated and destroyed – all the more so for someone who has also erased and destroyed all the foundations of the religion, and also ruined all the Halachot of Foreign-Worship and its foundations.

And here before you are the words of our Rabbi at the end of the ancient and faithful thirteen foundations of the religion:

"And when a person doubts a foundation of these foundations, then he excluded himself from everyone and denied the fundamental principle, and is called a heretic and an Epicurus and is eradicating its roots, and it is obligatory to hate and destroy him, and about such it is said: 'Do I not hate, Lord, those who hate You? those who rise against You, do I not quarrel?' [Psa. 139, 21]".

Below we will examine some of the main distortions of Karo the Karaite and his friends and prove our words.

First Distortion – Setting aside the Halachot of Foreign-Worship

Karo the Karaite, following the pagan Rosh (haNahash), banished the Halachot of Foreign-Worship to the part of Yoreh De'ah, as if the Halachot of Foreign-Worship were only for judges... And in our days, the Chief Rabbinate of Israel does not include the laws of foreign-worship in its exams, not for either regional rabbis or city rabbis! And not even for the ordination exams of judges! Thus, the trick of the heretics succeeded very much, as the Halachot of foreign-worship are not actually studied!

And in other words, the first step the heretics and their descendants took was to uproot the Halachot of foreign-worship from the necessary Halachot for every Jewish person, and by doing so, the heretics deny an important foundation which is: the axis upon which the entire Torah revolves is the uprooting of foreign-worship and the removal of its traces. Infidelity of this important foundation is, in fact, an infidelity of the entire Torah, for the Torah sanctified war against idolatry, whereas they did everything within their power to blur and bury the Halachot of foreign-worship from reality.

Second Distortion – Forging the Halachot of Foreign-Worship and Transforming Them into Halachot of Star-Worship

The heretics and their descendants forged the most central point in Halachot of Foreign-Worship which is their very name "foreign-worship". That is, for some reason, they decided that instead of calling the Halachot of Foreign-Worship by its name, they would call them the Halachot of Star-Worship, and they were so enthusiastic about this matter that, in all the Halachot of Foreign-Worship that appear in the book of Karo the Karaite, not even once is the pair of words "foreign-worship" mentioned!

I will add evidence to prove the course of the heretics from the Halachot of Star-Worship of Karo (148, 12): When Karo discusses the laws regarding foreign worshippers' festivals he makes a remark, and these are his words: "Some say that all these matters are only relevant in that specific time, but in our days, there are no star-worshippers, therefore it is permitted to deal with them on their festival days, lend them money and all other things". Meaning, at this time, the gentiles surrounding the Jews in their settlements around the world (in Europe, Asia, and the Land of Israel) are not star worshippers, thus all these laws throughout the chapter, and in the entire book, are actually irrelevant.

In contrast, according to the Sages Z”L and our Rabbi and the Oral Torah given to us at Mount Sinai, the main commandment regarding foreign-worship is not said only concerning the worship of the sun and the moon and the stars, rather, this commandment is stated regarding any of the creations, whether real or imaginary, and here is the ruling of the SZ”L and our Rabbi in Halachot of Foreign-Worship (2, 1):

"The main commandment regarding foreign-worship is not to serve any of the creations: not an angel, not a celestial sphere, not a star nor any of the four elements and not any of the creatures derived from them. And though the worshipper knows that the Lord is the God, and he worships this creation in the manner that Enosh and his generation worshipped at first [=that God ‘respected’ them and they deserved to be worshiped] – he is considered a foreign-worshipper”.

We must understand that such a fundamentally and centrally forgery caused all the Halachot of Foreign-Worship to become irrelevant, as they only concern certain star-worshippers who remained in the distant corners of the world! In other words, according to Karo the Karaite, anyone who does not worship the stars directly is essentially pure and free of any trace of foreign-worship! This is how they practically opened the door to all types and kinds of foreign-worship, such as the anthropomorphism of the Creator that completely stupefies the mind and opens a broad gateway like a hall for instilling further foreign worship, namely: attributing divine powers to so-called "holy saints" (for if a deity can be flesh-and-blood then a flesh-and-blood on earth can also possess magical powers), who wanted to be in a divine position on earth so much, where they could derive status, honor, profits and desires.

And if someone claims they did this out of "fear of censorship", well, I wonder, what censorship threatened Karo the Karaite in Safed? And who prevented them from correcting this forge over hundreds of years?

And in general, is it permitted for a Jewish person to disrupt, forge, distort and corrupt the Written Torah and the Oral Torah merely because they fear what the gentiles will say? And in fact, because they corrupted the Torah of Moshe they suffered severe and terrible punishments and died in tremendous suffering in thousands of different strange deaths.

And here is our Rabbi’s ruling on this matter in Halachot of Repentance (3, 14–17):

“And those who have no part in the World to Come and will be extirpated and lost, and will be judged according to the severity of their sins and wickedness eternally, forever and ever [...] Two kinds of apostates: [...] and apostate to the entire Torah, such as one who returns to the gentiles religion at the time when they decree persecution and clings to them and says: 'What good is it for me to cling to Israel, which are oppressed and persecuted? It is better to cling to the ruling forces' – this is an apostate to the entire Torah”.

In short, this terrible distortion in changing the name of Halachot of Foreign-Worship into Halachot of Star-Worship actually resulted in the practical destruction of Halachot of Foreign-Worship! Moreover, their neglected existence also became a tool in the hands of the heretics to instill the impurity of their views, since whenever someone would rise up and cry out against their abominable and impure ways, they could always show off their hooves in self-righteousness: "What do you want? Did Karo destroyed the Halachot of Foreign-Worship? Here they are in his book...

Third Distortion – Erasing the Fundamentals of Halachot of Foreign-Worship

The heretics did not corrupt only the status and meaning of Halachot of Foreign-Worship, they corrupted and shattered, with reinforced iron boots also the very content of these Halachot – and I do not speak of the sections of the Halachot such as how to behave regarding a city led astray and similar issues (which also contains hallucinations and numerous distortions, and almost all of them have an inarticulate and confusing tongue), rather, they destroyed the most basic fundamentals of all prohibitions of foreign-worship, such as: corrupting the foundation that the core of foreign-worship is to turn to a mediator factor, corrupting the fundamental prohibition of associating the turning to the Creator with any existing or imaginary factors, corrupting the fundamental prohibition of exploring thoughts of heresy and infidelity, corrupting the fundamental prohibition of acknowledging foreign-worship even without worshiping it, corrupting the idea that infidelity in foreign-worship equates to confessing the entire Torah, and more.

All these fundamentals are introduced in the early chapters of Halachot of Foreign-Worship, as well as in chapter 3 of Halachot of Repentance and others, and all these critical matters have been completely erased from the heretics' ruling books!

Thus, it appears, that the heretics took the essence and soul of Halachot of Foreign-Worship and left only a random collection of Halachot related only to technical matters, and these relate only to the stars in the sky...

Fourth Distortion – Erasing All the Intellectual Foundations of the Torah

As mentioned, all that remains to Karo the Karaite from Halachot of Foreign-Worship is a list of technical Halachot concerning stars and statues only. However, all other intellectual foundations of the religion: also those related to idol-worship directly and indirectly, and also those related to the base of our existence as a chosen Israelite nation have all been completely erased from their book, these include: knowing God, unification of God, negation of anthropomorphism, initiality of God, solely turning to Him, the prophecy, the prophecy of Moshe Rabenu, the Torah from Heaven, the prohibition to add or subtract from it, providence, reward and punishment, the messianic days and the resurrection of the dead – all these are entirely absent from his Karaite book.

And we saw earlier our Rabbi’s words concerning someone who doubts one foundation, and because of their importance here they are again:

"And when a person doubts [Even if only doubts to himself!] a foundation of these [thirteen] foundations, then he excluded himself from everyone and denied the fundamental principle, and is called a heretic and an Epicurus and is eradicating the roots, and it is obligatory to hate and destroy him, and about such it is said: 'Do I not hate, Lord, those who hate You? those who rise against You, do I not quarrel?' [Psa. 139, 21]".

Is there, then, a bigger doubt than the sweeping and absolute erasure of all the intellectual foundations of religion?

Fifth Distortion – The Instillation of Magic into Halachot of Foreign-Worship

In the Halachot intended to distance from idolatry and magic, exactly there, Karo instilled idolatry and magic! And on the graveness of magical delusions, our Rabbi writes in the Book of the Mitzvot (Do-not-do 32), and here are his words:

"Included in this act [prohibition of time-observing] is also the prohibition of legerdemain [...] and this is a major type of trickery and sleight-of-hand, to the extent that non-existent things appear real to people [...] and it is a form of enchant, and hence one receives lashes for it, nonetheless, he deceives people, and the damage caused by doing so is immense, because things that are completely impossible become possible to fools, women and children, training their minds to accept the impossible and consider that they might be real, understand this".

In many places, I pointed out the severity of magical delusions, and it is important to reiterate: because once a magical delusion penetrates a person's life in any domain, the wrong belief enters their consciousness that pagan magic has control and influence on our world, and from there, the path is very swift and fast for instilling idolatrous magical illusions into all areas of life, for if magic is true and exists in our world in one domain, why should it not be true and present in all areas of life?

In addition to the spread of magical delusions like a malignant and metastatic cancer in a person's thought and the absolute destruction they cause to a person's ability to achieve correct views in all fields of life, mere belief in their existence gives rise and growth to two more serious evils:

A) Every magical delusion opposes the axis upon which the entire Torah revolves: uprooting foreign-worship and erasing its traces, and this is because at the root of every foreign-worship lies a magical root, since without a magical root no foreign-worship can exist. For instance, without belief in the idol’s ability to bring down abundance in imaginary magical ways that foreign-worship has no meaning. Thus, magical delusions are the root of belief in supernatural powers apart from Lord God, and they cause people to worship these idols and fear them.

B) The source of magical delusions is among the idolatrous gentile nations, they believed in and even worshipped imaginary demons and feared them. Meaning, anyone who stupefies their thinking with demonic delusions and similar ones follows the gentiles statutes and their corruptive views, and we are forbidden, as a wise and understanding nation to stray down the vanity paths of the evil and brutish gentiles, and the Lord Almighty already warned us about this: “Wholehearted shall you be with the Lord your God״ (Deu. 18, 13), and as our Rabbi's famous words at the end of Halachot of Foreign-Worship, Chapter 11:

"All of these things [all the magic stuff brought up in chapter 11 ibid] are lies and deception, and the ancient idolaters used these to misled the gentiles of many lands so that they would follow them. It is unbecoming for Israel who are exceedingly wise to be attracted by these futilities, nor to bring to mind that they are any beneficial, as it is said: 'For there is no wayshow at Jacob and no soothsay at Israel' (Num. 23, 23); and it is also said: 'These nations you are about to dispossess listen to soothsayers and unto time observers, to you however, the Lord your God has not given the like' (Deu. 18, 14).

Whosoever believes in these matters and so forth [magic and hallucination stuff], and thinks there is wisdom and truth in them but that the Torah disallowed them are none other than fools and mindless, and are included among women and children whose minds are not whole. But the wise and whole-minded people know that all these matters which the Torah disallowed are not matters of wisdom but emptiness and futility followed by mindless people, who – because of these – abandoned all paths of truth. And for this reason, Torah says, when warning against all these futilities: 'you shall be wholehearted with the Lord your God' (Deu. 18, 13; meaning, don't be drawn after magic, rather hold unto refined and clear belief)”.

From the Halachot of our Rabbi above we clearly learn that the vanities, delusions and imaginations cause one to abandon the ways of truth! In other words, if an individual fills his mind with vanities and pagan delusions, he destroys the divine form within him, distance himself from knowing the Lord God and descend into the abyss of folly and brutishness, and every such delusion – even more so a collection of such delusions – distance a person greatly from the true God who has no equal, for at the root of every magical delusion lies the belief in the existence of a supernatural power other than the true God.

And we were already warned at Mount Sinai: “You shall have no other gods apart from Me” (Exo. 20, 3; Deu. 5, 7).

Moreover, the very belief in the existence of a supernatural magical power acting independently aside from the true God such as demons, sorcerers, evil spirits, spirit possession, etc. and all kinds of beliefs in foreign-worship, all of this is considered a revilement and blasphemy against the honored and awesome name, as our Rabbi rules in the Halachot of Foreign-Worship (2, 10):

"Anyone who acknowledges that foreign-worship is true, even though he did not worship it – blasphemes and reviles the honored and great name". And one who acknowledges foreign-worship is not not only reviling and blaspheming the honored and awesome name but also denying the entire Torah, teaching us the severity of acknowledging foreign-worship, as our Rabbi rules there (2, 7):

"The Mitzvah of foreign-worship is against all the Mitzvot, every single one, as said: "And if you have erred and not observed all the Mitzvot" etc. (Num. 15, 22). And from the tradition they [SZ”L] have learned that in foreign-worship the text is speaking. Here you learn, that anyone who acknowledges foreign-worship denies the whole Torah and all the prophets, and everything commanded to the prophets from Adam to the end of the world, as said: "From the day that God commanded and forward throughout your generations" (Num. 15, 23). And anyone who denies foreign-worship acknowledges the entire Torah, and it is the essence of all the other Mitzvot" (Halachot of Foreign-Worship 2, 7).

And to this matter I will add our Rabbi's words in the Guide (2, 47):

"Nothing is welcome before Him except the truth, and nothing angers Him except futility [the lies, the heresy and idolatry], and let not your views and thoughts be confused with incorrect views that are very far from the truth, thinking them to be Torah; for the teachings are pure truth if understood properly, as said: 'Your testimonies are righteous forever' [Psa. 119, 144], and said: 'I am the Lord who speaks righteousness, My messages are straight' [Isa. 45, 19]."

And I will conclude this matter with the words of the Torah of truth:

"When you come into the land that the Lord your God is giving you, you shall not learn to do as the abominations of those gentiles, there shall not be found among you anyone who passes his son or daughter through the fire, a soothing soothsayer, a time-observer, a wayshower, an enchanter, and a witchcrafter, consulting a necromancer and necromancy, because all who do these things are an abomination to the Lord, and because of these abominations the Lord your God is driving them out before you, you shall be wholehearted with the Lord your God [walking wholeheartedly means eradicating magic and uprooting foreign-worship, and it is the foundation of the fear of Heaven, therefore Onkelos translates there as follows: "Be complete in the fear of the Lord your God’] (Deu. 18)”.

***

Now, let's examine a few examples of pagan delusions from the halachic rulings of Karo the Karaite:

A) In his impure Shulchan, Yoreh De'ah, Halachot of Time-Observer and Enchanter (179, 2), it is said: "It is customary not to begin on Mondays and Wednesdays, and not to marry except when the moon is full”. Meaning, according to Karo, there is concern about beginning a labor or action on Mondays and Wednesdays, etc. And in this ruling he violates the Torah prohibition of time-observing.

And here is our Rabbi's ruling in the Halachot of Foreign-Worship (11, 9–10):

 9) "Who is the Time-Observer? These are the ones who provide times and say in their astrology that a certain day is bad and another day is good, a certain day is suitable for a certain work, a certain year or month is bad for a certain thing”.

10) "It is forbidden to observetime. Even if one did not take any action but merely informed those lies that fools imagine to be truths and wisdom. And anyone who take action according to astrology and plans their work or travels in the time set by astrologers is liable to lashes, as it is stated: 'You shall not observe time' [Lev. 19, 26]”.

And even though in these Halachot our Rabbi the Rambam refers to astrology, it seems clear that determining times according to any pagan futile belief falls under this prohibition. The Torah does not specifically mention astrology, rather generally states 'You shall not observe time'. Furthermore, in Sifra, a Midrash for the Book of Leviticus, it is stated generally: "You shall not observe time – these are time-setters". And in Rambams’ Book of the Mitzvot it is stated (do-not-do 32): "The language of the Sifra: 'You shall not observe time – these are time-setters’, because it derives from setting times, meaning there should not be among you a time-setter saying a certain time is bad and another is good" – implying any time-setter, whatever their delusion may be.

It was found, that the prohibition of "You shall not observe time" is a general prohibition, and because ancient astrologers were well-known for their time-calculations, Our Rabbi mentioned them as an example of time-calculators. Additionally, the Rambam waged a war in many places in his writings against astrology and astrologers, and wherever the subject arose, he saw fit to denounce them (as further explained in the article: 'A Look at Astrology in Light of the Rambam', showing how astrology is a form of foreign-worship because it attributes magical powers to the celestial bodies).

B) And here is further evidence of Karo’s astrayness with the delusions of idolatrous astrology, like many of the "Sages of Israel" who are members in the Fools and Mindless Club that was established by the Edomite parsons and their pierced servants. However, as we saw in the example above, the Karaite was even more wicked than his European Ashkenazi patrons, as he instilled magic and idolatry into a practical halakhic book, and thus instilled magic and impurity into the daily life of the nation of Israel! And here are his words in his impure Shulchan (Orach Chayim 1, 2):

"One who rises to beg his Creator should aim for the hours when watches change, which are at the third of the night and to the end of two-thirds of the night and at the end of the night, since the prayer that is prayed at those hours for the destruction [of the Holy Temple] and exile is welcome”. And not only is this ugly prayer disgusting and rejected before the Exalted Lord, as it denies an explicit do-not-do Mitzva, but in his ruling, Karo the Karaite (wicked shall rot) enters the severe category of public misleaders, and thus Our Rabbi rules in the Halachot of Repentance (3, 14–19) concerning public misleaders: "And those who have no part in the World to Come and will be extirpated and lost, and will be judged according to the severity of their sins and wickedness eternally, forever and ever [...] and public misleaders [...] whether they mislead in a grave matter like Jeroboam [...] and one who mislead in a minor matter, even to nullify a to-do Mitzvah [All the more so when he misled others about a do-not-do Mitzvah related to foreign-worship!]"

Moreover, in this delusion Karo instilled, he essentially determines that the Holy One exists in a world where the concept of time applies, and if time applies to the Creator, then He is necessarily a body, since time is measured via the movement of substances. That is, if the concept of time applies in higher worlds, then angels and the Creator have bodies, since their worlds are material worlds in which by their movement time is measured. Further on negating the concept of time from the Exalted Lord, see the article: "The Zohar – An Ugly Pagan Delusion", example 10.

3) In his impure Shulchan, Yoreh De'ah, Halachot of Time-Obsrever and Enchanter (179, 5), it is stated: "A witchcrafter is one who, through whisper, gathers animals or snakes and scorpions, mosquitoes and fleas”. Does a witchcrafter gather animals or snakes, etc. with his futile whispers? Is he capable of moving the wing of a fly or the leg of a flea?

4) In his impure Shulchan, Yoreh De'ah, Halachot of Time-Obsrever and Enchanter (179, 7), it is stated: "One who is pursued by a snake or scorpion is permitted to use witchcraft so they will not harm him". Does mumbling futile whispers will keep snakes and scorpions away from pursuing and harming a person? What is this mental nonsense?! "A man who does not adhere to what is most precious is to be likened to the beasts, this is their way of foolishness [...] A man who adheres to what is most precious but does not understand, is to be likened to the beasts" (Psa. 49).

And here in front of you are our Rabbi's words regarding a witchcrafter in the Halachot of Foreign-Worship (11, 12):

"Who is a witchcrafter? This is someone who says things that are not commonly spoken and have no meaning, and in his folly, he imagines that these sayings are helpful, to the extent that they say that anyone who says such words over a snake or scorpion will not be harmed; and anyone who says such words over a person will not be harmed by them; and he holds in his hand, while speaking, a key or a coin or similar objects – all of this is forbidden. And the witchcrafter himself who held nothing, or acted alongside his speech, even if he just gestured with his finger – liable to lashes, as it is stated: 'There shall not be found among you... and a witchcrafter' [Deu. 18, 10–11]”.

So we have seen that according to the stupid Karaite Karo, the hallucinating enchanters have the power "to gather animals or snakes and scorpions, mosquitoes and fleas”, and to keep a snake and scorpion away "so they will not harm him"… However, Karo the Karaite hopping between two ideas, for even though he seems to believe that whispers have the power to do all that’s mentioned, his words suggest that these futile whispers cannot heal an already inflicted wound.

And here are his words in the Halachot of Time-Observer and Enchanter (179, 6): "One who has been bitten by a scorpion is permitted to whispered over him, even on Shabbat, and even though this does not help at all, since he is in danger they permitted it to keep him from going mad".

And the mixing of truth and falsehood indicates severe and dangerous heresy, for those who see it might fall into his trap and mistakenly think he is a man of truth who has received divine help... And so is the way of the Christians and Muslims, who explicitly declare their recognition of the Creator’s existence. But it is known that upon a few singular truths, they heap tons of heresy, foolishness and cruelty.

Furthermore, anyone who associates the Name of Heaven with something else is uprooted from the world, and the main essence of the severe foreign-worship is associating the service of the Blessed Creator with a mediator and an intermediary to stand between us and Him.

 5) Before examining the impure one's words, I would like to precede with our Rabbi's Halacha in the Halachot of Foreign-Worship (11, 15):

"One who whispers over a wound and reads a verse from the Torah, and one who reads over a child so they won't be frightened, or who places a Torah scroll or a Tefillin on a child so they will sleep – not only are they in the category of wayshower and witchcrafting, but they also are among the deniers of the Torah, for they make the words of Torah a means of healing for the body, and they are only meant as healing for the soul, as it is said: 'And they shall be life to your soul' [Pro. 3, 22]".

This means that, according to our Rabbi, anyone who whispers Torah verses over a wound is a wayshower, a witchcrafter and a denier of the Torah. In contrast, in his impure table, Yoreh De'ah, Halachot of Time-Observer and Enchanter (179, 8), the Karaite says this:

"One who whispers over a wound or over a sick person and spits and then reads a verse from the Torah, does not have a share in the World to Come. And if he does not spit, then it seems to be permitted. And if there's a danger to life, everything is permitted”.

Well then: First, it is forbidden to read verses from the Torah over a wound in any circumstance, and even over a dangerously ill person who may go mad, for on this matter our Rabbi rules: “It is permitted to whisper” purposelessly, meaning, we show him that we are whispering over him only to calm his mind. Second, according to Karo only the spitting is forbidden by Torah law, whereas whispering verses over the wound is merely a de’Rabanan prohibition! And it is clear as day that Karo flatters the heretics in this ruling and distances their practices from the category of those who have no share in the World to Come.

And here is the heretics’ ruling on this, and these are the words of Isserles (Rema) there: “And some say that all this is forbidden only when one reads the verse in the Holy Language, but in a foreign language it is not [forbidden]. (Rashi in the name of his rabbi, and Beit Yosef). However, regarding spitting, it is good to be careful in every case, especially if they mention the Name, for he has no share in the World to Come (so it appears from the Ba’al haTurim according to Judah haLevi)”.

That is, according to Rashi, Karo the Karaite’s rabbinic prohibition, namely the whispering of Torah verses over a wound, applies only when the enchanter reads the verses in the Holy Language, but if he reads them in a foreign language – then it is permitted at the outset. Likewise, Isserles emphasizes that “regarding spitting it is good to be careful in every case” as though spitting were the main prohibition! And not the recitation of verses from the Torah over the wound, and not turning the Torah into a means for obtaining advantages and profit, healing and benefits! And there is no limit to their stupidity, and no limit to their heresy, for they do not cease to corrupt and gnaw away at the Halachot of the Oral Torah, especially in all that related to the Halachot of Foreign-Worship.

6) In his impure Shulchan, Yoreh De’ah, Halachot of Time-Observer and Enchanter (179, 10), Karo writes as follows: “The one who is healthy, may read verses to protect himself from harmful spirits”. Really? And didn’t we see above that one who does so is a wayshower, a witchcrafter, and a denier of the Torah! And once again Karo the Karaite falsifies and distorts the Oral Torah, and here is our Rabbi's ruling there (ibid 11, 16):

“But a healthy person who reads verses or a psalm from Tehillim, so that the merit of reading them will protect him, to be saved from troubles and harm – this is permitted”. However, from Karo’s words it seems that the verses are some kind of magical whisper that rescues a person, and not the person’s merit in reading them, and though it may appear a subtle distinction – upon it a person may either be extirpated or redeemed to eternal life, and on such matters the prophet declares: “Tzadikim will walk in them, and criminals will stumble in them” (Hos. 14, 10).

7) In his impure Shulchan, Yoreh De'ah, Halachot of Time-Observer and Enchanter (179, 11), it is stated: "Measuring a belt and whispering over it is permitted, even on Shabbat". And how did he dare to permit whispering over a belt? Is this about a life-threatening situation? Is it about a person whose mind would go mad if we did not show him that we were whispering over his wound? After all, this is about whispering over a belt! And this is idolatry and foolishness. And what Karo writes, that it is permitted even on Shabbat, shows how ignorant and Am Ha’Aretz he is in matters of thought and Halachot of foreign-worship, for there is no connection between the prohibition of witchcrafting and the prohibitions of Shabbat, and it is prohibited even on Purim. And when our Rabbi says that it is permitted to whisper "even on Shabbat", it is only because it refers to an ill person who is in danger, and the Sages and our Rabbi asked to teach that just as one heals a dangerously ill person on Shabbat, so too he whispers over him so that he will not get mad.

By the way, the foolish Isserles added: "The same applies to other whispers", and what whispers is he talking about?

8) In his impure Shulchan, Yoreh De'ah, Halachot of Time-Observer and Enchanter (179, 12), it is stated: "It is permissible to heal with an amulet, even if it contains names. It is also permissible to carry amulets with verses in them. And especially to protect against illness, but not to heal those who have a wound or illness, but, it is forbidden to write verses in amulets”.

We have already seen above that whoever whispers verses over a baby so that they will not be frightened, i.e. to protect or guard them, is considered a witchcrafter, wayshower and a denier of the Torah. But according to Karo above, "it is permissible to carry amulets with verses [...] to protect against illness" – and Caro misunderstood the basic rule in all these matters: Anyone who imagines that Mitzvot are enchantments that operate to bring down physical abundance is a witchcrafter, wayshower and a denier of the Torah, because their purpose is not to act as enchantments for physical abundance but to elevate our souls for the world to come. For more on futile amulets and "sacred" names, see "Rambams' Attitude on Amulets and Magic”.

9) In the impure Shulchan, Yoreh De'ah, Halachot of Time-Obsrever and Enchanter (179, 14), it is stated: "To adjure the sick to return to him after death to answer what he asks is permitted. And some permit even after death, if he does not adjure the dead body but only his spirit”. And this diverted pagan and arrogant idiot did not know or understand that this is an explicit prohibition of necromancy, and here is our Rabbi's ruling there (Halachot of Foreign-Worship and the Statutes of the Gentiles, Halacha 17):

"Who is a necromancer? It is one who starves himself and goes and sleeps in a cemetery, so that a deseaced person will come to him in a dream and answer what he asks. And some others wear known clothes, say things, and burn known incense, and sleep alone – so that deceased John Doe will come and talk with them in a dream. Generally speaking: anyone who acts in order to have the deceased come and inform him – liable to lashes, as it is stated: 'There shall not be found among you... a necromancer' [Deu. 18, 10–11]”.

Even adjuring the living to return after death is an action to make the deceased inform him according to his imagination. I still do not understand how it is possible to adjure the spirit of the dead, all the more so his body... simply trippy! From these Halachot, it can be understood, how the Karaite Karo was simply an idiot, completely mindless.

10) In his impure table, Yoreh De'ah, Halachot of Time-Obsrever and Enchanter (179, 15), it is said: "Legerdemain is prohibited, but through Sefer Yetzirah, it is permitted”, and the Tur added and emphasized his and Karo's stupidity and heresy, for according to the Tur "even to perform an action" is permissible, and this is certainly Karo the Karaite's intention as well.

And this is clear and explicit foreign-worship! For whoever whispering whispers and performs futile actions in order to disrupt the natural order or bring down abundance is in the category of an enchanter whose judgment is stoning!

It is therefore found that in this Halacha, the Karaite Karo sinks more and more into the abyss of heresy and stupidity! For according to Karo it is permitted to perform imaginary spells using Sefer Yetzirah! In other words, Karo was also a complete idiot who believed that it was possible to plunder the systems of nature through the use of imaginary spells found in Sefer Yetzirah, and he was also whispering whispers that require stoning because he practically permitted acting and enchanting enchantments whose purpose is bringing down abundance or looting the natural systems! He leads the people astray after vanity, and failing our nation in the transgressions of foreign-worship, for which they deserve stoning!

And regarding the pagan Sefer Yetzirah, see: "Sefer Yetzirah – How stupid can one be?".

11) In the impure table, Yoreh Deah, Halachot of Time-Obsrever and Enchanter (179, 16–19), it states: "The act of demons is forbidden. There are those who permit consulting them about theft [...] The one incense for a demon to cooperate. and coerce it is guilty for star-worshiping”. And the very fact that Karo conceives it permissible to consult demons who the thief is or where it is now, and the addition about incensing for the demon: "to cooperate and coerce it to do his will", all this clearly indicates that the ignorant and stupid Karo believed in their existence.

I have already elaborated elsewhere regarding demons, that they are an ancient and particularly ugly form of foreign-worship (see the series of articles: ‘Demons: the domain of fools and sinners’). Therefore, I will suffice with quoting our Rabbi's words on the matter of belief and acknowledgment of foreign-worship, in the Halachot there (2, 10): "Anyone who acknowledges that foreign-worship is true, even though he did not worship it – blasphemes and reviles the honored and great name". And as also noted in Halachot of Foreign-Worship above (2, 10), the one who acknowledges foreign-worship not only blasphemes and reviles the honored and great name, but also denies the entire Torah of Moshe, teaching us about the severity of acknowledging foreign-worship.

And even more so! Karo scribbles above: "There are those who permit consulting them about theft" – and even though any turn to demons is categorized as foreign-worship deserving stoning, Karo permitted this in practice!

Sixth Distortion – Falsifying the Essence of Heresy to Cover Up His Heresy

To understand Karo’s distortion in this matter, we must revisit Halachot of Repentance (3, 15):

"And those who have no part in the World to Come and will be extirpated and lost, and will be judged according to the severity of their sins and wickedness eternally, forever and ever: the heretics […] five who are called heretics: [1] One who says there is no God and no ruler of the world [atheist]; [2] And one who says there is a ruler but they are two or more [=those disguising themselves as Jews following Christian Shitufffffff  beliefs]; [3] And one who says there is a ruler, but He is a body with an image [=many early anthropomorphists Ashkenazim]; [4] And also one who says that He alone was not first and the creator of everything [=that He created the world from pre-existing matter]; [5] and the one who worships a deity other than Him to be a mediator between him and the Lord of the Universe [=the dead and grave worshippers, Admors and Gedolim worshippers, and other idol-worshippers aiming that they will bring down abundance from the Creator of the World] – each of these five is a heretic”.

Contrasting all this detail, in Halachot of Foreign-Worship (158, 2), Karo says: "Heretics of Israel are those who worship stars" etc., Meaning, according to Karo, heretics are worshipping stars only! With this forgery, Karo practically Koshered all types of heresy! from anthropomorphism through Shituf until worshipping mediators between us and the Creator! And he did this to cover up his heresy and that of his European masters, who falsified our Torah and embedded their heretical views and idolatrous magical filth into our religion.

What Karo did here is much more severe than what the frantic of Posquières did in his critique of Rambam in the Halachot of Repentance (3, 15), for the frantic of Posquières denied that anthropomorphism is considered heresy, while Karo the Karaite denied all types of heresy entirely! Except for idol worshippers and zodiac-signs worshippers... And about the frantic and others like him, who were in doubt whether God has a hand, body, leg and intestines, our Rabbi says that "they are more astray than beasts" – and Karo is worse than the frantic for he misled our people in a much more severe and fatal way.

In this regard, see the series of articles: "Idolatrous Beliefs Among the Wicked of Ashkenaz".

Seventh Distortion – Falsification of the Oral Torah

We have already seen that Karo falsified the Oral Torah in many matters, however, we found in matters of foreign-worship several falsifications that indicate a strong inclination towards the gentiles and their deeds, and the strong connection between the gentiles in the countries of Europe and the heretics and their descendants, who lived among them and mingled with them.

1) In the Halachot of Foreign-Worship (151, 11), Karo says this: "One must not give a free gift to a star-worshipper whom he does not know". It means that from the outset it is permissible to give a free gift to a gentile who does not worship the moon and stars, and if he knows him – even to a gentile who worships the sun, moon and all the host of the skies.

Again, he completely falsifies the Torah, and here is the Halacha of the Sages and our Rabbi regarding this matter (Foreign-Worship 10, 6):

"And so it is forbidden to praise them, and even to say how handsome this gentile is in form, all the more so to praise his deeds or to endear something of theirs: as it is said: 'Nor shall you show them favor' [Deu. 7, 2] – they should not find favor in your eyes, because it causes attachment with them and learning from their evil deeds. And it is forbidden to give them free gifts".

That is, according to the Oral Torah, even to a gentile who is not a foreign-worshipper, it is forbidden to give a gift! Therefore, there is no doubt in my opinion, that Karo was enslaved and pierced to his European Ashkenazi heretic masters, who greatly cherished the proximity of impure gentiles, learned from their evil deeds, and instilled into our religion of the living God their ugly delusions and vile methods. "And they mingled with the gentiles and learned their deeds" (Psa. 106, 35).

2) To understand the next falsification of the Karaite, we must first examine the rulings of the Torah of truth and justice.

And these are the words of the Sages and our Rabbi in the Halachot of Foreign-Worship (10, 1–2):

[a] "No covenant is made with foreign-worshipers to make peace with them and leave them in [the land of Israel] to work it, as it is said: 'You shall not make a covenant with them' [Deu. 7, 2], rather they must return from their worship or be killed, and it is forbidden to have mercy on them [on the foreign-worshipping gentiles], as it is said: 'Nor shall you show them favor' [ibid]. Therefore, if he saw a foreign-worshipper getting lost or drowning in the river, he shall not bring him up. If he saw him being led to death, he shall not save him. But to destroy him by hand or to push him into a pit and the like is forbidden [=this type of treatment towards idol-worshipping gentiles is called by the Sages: 'Do not lower and do not elevate'], Because he is not waging war against us”.

[b] "What are the circumstances? In a gentile, but Israel informers and heretics and epicureans – it's a Mitzvah to destroy them by one's own hand and to hurl them into the pit of destruction because they strait Israel, and remove the people from following God as jeshua the Christian and his students [=all his anthropomorphisms and magic possessors of all kinds]; Sadducees, Boethusians and their students [=All destroyers of the Oral Torah of various kinds, such as the Kabbalists and those who go astray after the pagan Kabbalah] – wicked shall rot”.

Another Halacha on this matter is found in the Halachot of Testimony (11, 11), and these are the words of our Rabbi:

"The informers, epicureans, heretics and the apostates, the Sages did not need to include them in the category of invalid witnesses, because they only included the wicked of Israel [=those who committed a sin require lashes]. But these rebels and deniers are considered lesser than the gentiles, [because] the [foreign-worshipping] gentiles 'neither raise nor elevate’ and their righteous [who accepted the seven Noahide Mitzvot] have a share in the world to come. However, these [=the heretics, etc.] are 'lowering and not elevating’, and they have no share in the world to come”.

However, in Karo's Halachot of Star-Worship (158, 1) it is stated thus: "Idol worshipers from the seven nations [of Canaan whom we were commanded to perish] [...] we do not act upon them, causing their death" etc., meaning all these Halachot are completely irrelevant, as they only concern idol-worshiping gentiles from the seven nations of Canaan, not all idol-worshiping gentiles. And it is clear that this falsification is meant to obscure the severity of the deeds and views of the gentiles, which are similar to those of Karo.

"And they went after the vanity and became vain themselves, going after the nations around them, concerning whom the Lord had commanded not to do as they did [...] And they were soothing soothsayers and wayshowers and became addicted to doing evil in the eyes of the Lord, provoking Him to anger" (Kings II 17, 15–17).

Eighth Distortion – Instilling the Idolatry of the Zohar in the Nation of Israel

To understand a bit about Karo's crucial role in instilling the Book of Zohar to the nation of Israel, let's examine a few words by the stupid researcher Moshe Halamish. Here are some of his words from his book "The Kabbalah" (p. 161 and onward):

"The involvement of Rabbi Joseph Karo, one of the greatest halachic sages of all generations [=did we mention that Halamish is an idiot?] in the world of Kabbalah does not need to be publicized today. The decisive words of Rabbi Aviad Sar-Shalom Bazila [...] the proofs brought by Doctor Tamar from Karo's time, and of course the important book by Werblowsky – provide rather convincing evidence [...] Nevertheless, it is clear that Karo absorbed from the Zohar more than any prior Posek, and granted its teaching a far-reaching authority more than his predecessors did [...] But it seems that he himself [=Karo the Karaite] could not offer a distinct measure for his reliance on the Zohar, because it is clear, as will be seen, that not in every case did he use the Zohar. It was more a result of an ad-hoc [=for certain need] decision by a sharp halachic man with analytical ability [hopelessly dumb] in whose mind and existence two worlds constantly raced, which by nature cannot eternally coexist in the same space, [...] In any case, authoritative status was granted to the book of Zohar" (p. 161–164).

And how can Karo offer a measure for reliance on the darkness? Are these divine legal principles? It is actually foreign-worship! This is why Karo generally lacks rules and criteria, And particularly regarding his reliance on the Book of Darkness, because if it were the Torah of truth we would have sheer logic and clear principles (even if there are some exceptions), since our Torah is a Torah of truth with logic, balance and clear rules well understood by the clear and straight intellect, as our Rabbi says in the Guide (2, 39), and these are his words:

"The perfect thing, the ultimate possible of its kind, cannot be found in other things except when it is less than that perfection, or in exaggeration or deficiency [...] So is the case with this Torah as it explained its balance and said: 'Rightous statutes and laws' [Deu. 4, 8], and you already know that the matter of 'righteous' is balanced".

Of course that Halamish the idiot elevates Karo: "a sharp halachic man with analytical ability", for he himself is an utter donkey who turned the Torah of God into a spade with which to dig in the most ugly ways, and Karo permitted Halamish to turn the Torah of God into a spade with which to dig and quarrel millions from the Torah – so how could Halamish not praise and flatter him? And this is why all the professors of Jewish Science praise Karo. Nonetheless, amidst his words, the truth about the Book of Darkness is hinted: "In his mind and existence, two worlds constantly raced, which by nature cannot eternally coexist in the same space”, and like Esau and Jacob who struggled in the womb as antitheses to each other, so are Darkness and the Torah of truth –one is falsehood and the other truth.

Later in his book (p. 169), Halamish notes a very central citation from Karo's words which precisely and concisely describes Karo's attitude toward the impure Book of Darkness, and Halamish states: "His special attitude to the Zohar also emerges from a sentence [...] [And these are Karo's words in the introduction to his book 'Beit Yosef'] 'In the days of the Poskim, the world's most holy book of light had not yet been revealed’ [thus ended the words of Karo the Karaite, wicked shall rot]".

And I, in my innocence, thought the Torah we received at Mount Sinai is the world's most holy book of light…

And in summing up his words there, Halamish the idiot says (p. 179): "Indeed, it became clear to us that Karo relied on Kabbalistic sources [...] but we could not set any principles for his method [=and how could there be principles for folly, stupidity and the lies of magic, anthropomorphism and idolatry? Is there order and regime in heresy?]. But it is clear that in this, and with the wide spread of Karo's writings, legitimacy was given to rulings based on the Kabbalah".

In other words, Karaite Karo was the one who instilled the Kabbalah into the practical halachic world! He was the one who instilled the piglet into the pure Temple of the Lord, he is the one who distorted, corrupted and falsified the Oral Torah with ugly pagan delusions and texts, he was a key destroyer of true religion.

And Kapach calls this wicked heretic “Maran” hundreds of times! And with other nicknames such as “Supreme Holy”, “Great of the Torah”, “Genius of the World”, and so on and so forth – vanities intended to preserve his rulership.

“From young to old everyone is pursuers of profit, from prophet to priest alike, everyone is lying” (Jer. 8, 10).

A Talmudic Mistake Worth a Willful Offence

It is important to remind that Karo's Karaite falsifications are very severe from an additional perspective, which is the rule “a Talmudic mistake worth a willful offence”, and I will explain: regarding religious leaders who guide the nation’s path, there is no room for mistakes, and if they unintentionally err in some halachic teaching due to negligence in studying Torah and Halacha, they are considered as willful offenders; and if they instruct Halacha without studying the sources regarding it at all – they are considered willful offenders.

Herein are the words of our Rabbi in the Guide (3, 41):

“Here the Torah differentiated between a layperson individual, or [between] a king or high priest or instructor, and we learned from this: anyone who acts or instructs based on his study, if he was not the great Beth Din or a high priest, is considered as a willful offender and not an unintentional offender [...] And based on this foundation, our Sages Z”L stated: 'A Talmudic Mistake Worth a Willful Offence' [Avot 4, 13], meaning, whoever does not learn well and instructs based on his lack of knowledge is considered as a willful offender [...] But the teacher who instructs based on what he does not know is certainly a willful offender, since the scripture did not set an apology for error in instruction except for the great Beth Din alone. But the willful offender is subject to the punishment prescribed [in the Torah]: whether execution by the court, lashes, or strokes for prohibitions for which whipping is not usually applied, or compensation” etc.

However, if those same religious leaders err and mislead the people in the foundations of our Torah, there is no doubt that they are considered willful offenders since these are not complicated Halachot that require deep examination, but rather simple and clear matters transferred within the nation person to person from Moshe Rabenu R.I.P – all the more so and Kal v’Chomer regarding Karo the Karaite who also erased all foundations of our religion, also forged and falsified the Halachot of foreign-worship, and also corrupted our religion by instilling magical-pagan views. Therefore, the Karaite is not merely someone who instructs “based on what he does not know”, but rather those who knowingly and intentionally instructs against the path of truth, thereby corrupting the path of truth and instilling heretical views that ruin Israel, and bring upon our nation terrible suffering.

That is, Karo is not among the “ordinary” willful offenders but among those who intentionally and knowingly mislead the nation after vanity to fulfill their greed, desires, lechery and foreign-worshipping that they hold. Concerning these public misleaders who mislead our nation after futility, our Sages Z”L and our Rabbi ruled in Sanhedrin (11, 6): "The cruelty towards those who mislead the people after the vanity bring mercy to the world, as said: 'For God will withdraw His raising fury and grant you mercy [and have compassion on you and make you many as he swore to your fathers' (Deu. 13, 18)]".

And I will mention again the words of our Rabbi at the end of the thirteen fundamentals of our pure religion, and here are his words:

"And when a person doubts [even just doubts to himself!] a foundation of these [thirteen] foundations, then he excluded himself from everyone and denied the fundamental principle, and is called a heretic and an Epicurus and is eradicating its roots, and it is obligatory to hate and destroy him, and about such it is said: 'Do I not hate, Lord, those who hate You? those who rise against You, do I not quarrel?' [Psa. 139, 21]".

Much more so for those who destroy and ruin the foundations of religion and mislead our nation after heretical views.

'My nation! Your leaders mislead and the path of your ways swallow [=they have led many after vanity and futility which brings our nation down in sorrow to hell] [...] [Therefore] the Lord will come in judgment with the elders of His nation" (Isa. 3, 12–14).

Epilogue

Finished and incomplete. At the end of this journey into the depths of Karo the Karaite's soul who corrupted the religion of Moshe, I wish to add and examine two hlchofrom the Halachot of "Star Worshipping" by Joha Karo in the section of Yoreh De'ah. The first Halacha is from Halachot of Star-Worship (156, 2), and the Karaite words as follows:

"It is forbidden for a man to look in a mirror, because of 'And a man shall not wear [women dress] [Deu. 22, 5], unless for medical reasons –for example, if he fears for his eyes, or if he cuts his hair himself, or if he cuts his hair from the star-worshiper among themselves. And to be seen as an important person, it is permitted to look in a mirror”.

Thus, as will be seen further below, there is no prohibition to look in a mirror, and this is absolute folly and a very fundamental misunderstanding of the Talmud, in Tractate Foreign-Worship, page 29a, here is the Sugia in front of you:

"The Rabbis taught: Israeli who is getting a haircut from a gentile, sees in a mirror […] What is the situation? In a public domain, why is a mirror needed? And if it's in a private domain? Always in a private domain, and since there is a mirror, he appears as an important person”.

Regarding the Sages' instruction to Israel who gets a haircut from a gentile, regarding looking in the mirror: "He sees in a mirror", they ask in the Talmud: "What is the situation?", meaning, what are the circumstances? If it concerns a public domain, why is a mirror needed? Since the gentile will be cautious and not harm the Jew because there are many around who see him; and also if it is in a private domain, why need a mirror? Since the gentile barber could anyway harm the Jew because no one sees him. So, regarding a private domain, why do they instruct Israel to look in a mirror when the gentile cut his hair? So that the gentile barber will see the Jew looking in the mirror and be careful about his haircut, thus the gentile will think this Jew is an important person and be cautious not to harm him, for fear of damages.

Since this whole matter of looking in the mirror is only one example among many, where the Jew puts on a display to convince the gentile that he is an important person, so that the gentile barber will not harm him, our Rabbi did not bring this particular example, but instead included a general rule that includes this example and all its parallels, and here is his ruling from the Halachot of Murderer and Preservation of Life (12, 8):

"It is forbidden to get a haircut from them in a private domain, lest they kill him. And if he is an important person [meaning well-known and famous], it is permitted, because he [the gentile] fears to kill him; and if he acted as an important person to the Gentile, so that he will fear him and not kill him, then it is permitted to get a haircut from him”.

Similarly, the Tosefta shall be understood (Foreign-Worship 3, 5): "An Israeli who gets an haircut from a gentile shall look in the mirror. From the Kuthite – shall not look in the mirror. They permitted the house of Rabbi Gamliel to be seen in the mirror because they are close to the kingship". This means, a Jew getting a haircut from gentile sees looks in the mirror – meaning, he imitates a an important person so he won't be killed. But when getting a haircut from a Kuthite, there is no concern of harm, so there is no need to look in a mirror to imitate an important person. Also, they permitted to the house Rabbi Gamliel "to be seen in the mirror”, i.e., to get a haircut from gentiles because hey are close to the royal court and need to be presentable and get haircuts regularly.

This additional note about Rabbi Gamliel is an example of the rabbinic permission to shave among non-Jews when the Jew is an important and well-known person, or when he imitates a non-Jew as an important person.

In short, there is no basis for Karo the Karaite's delusion regarding the prohibition of looking in a mirror. Moreover, in this Halachawe see not only stupidity and a very basic misunderstanding of the plain meaning of the sages' words in the Talmud but also far beyond that. Here again is the Halachafrom Karo the Karaite:

It is forbidden for anyone to look in a mirror, except for reasons of medical treatment, such as being concerned about one's eyes, or for self-makeup, or if one shaves from idol worshippers among themselves. And to be seen by a prominent person, it is permitted to look in a mirror.

Note now the conclusion of the law: "And to be seen by a prominent person, it is permitted to look in a mirror." According to Chokha Karo, from the Torah it is forbidden for a man to look in a mirror, but to appear to others as an important person – it is permitted... From this ruling, we learn about the depth of his foolishness – how could it be conceivable to revoke a Torah prohibition just to "appear to be an important person"? And where is humility in all this? Is it good measure to boast as an important person?

This halacha also reveals, in my opinion, his heresy in dismissing a Torah law (according to his imagination) and his foolishness, as if there is a virtue in arrogance, in superficiality, and in striving to appear as "an important person," even to the extent of canceling a Torah law...

And now for the second halacha, which Karo, the heretic, scribbles on his unclean table (Joreh Mitzvot, Halachot of Foreign-Worship 188, G): "Someone who ate and left crumbs on his table, should not bring a full loaf and place it on the table." What is this stupidity?! This foolishness, engaging in such magic, destroys the mind.

"If they forsake my Torah and do not walk in my statutes, if they despise my Halachot and do not keep my commandments, I will punish their iniquity with a rod and their sins with stripes" (Psalm 107, 17–18). Do not be surprised, therefore, by the terrible suffering that befell the European heretics and their descendants... And concerning Karo, see: "Karo’s table of heresy."

"There is a road and a path [=the path of truth] and it will be called the holy way, An impure person will not pass it, but it suits those wandering around, and fools will not go astray [and those who walk on the righteous path will be misled no more, even the fools who went astray and were misled by the heretics]" (Isa. 35, 8).

Three Appendices

A.   About the Expression "Foreign-Worship" in the Karaite’s Table

In the article above I wrote: "in all the Halachot of Foreign-Worship that appear in the book of the Karaite, not even once is the pair of words ‘foreign-worship’ mentioned!", and what I mean is that in all the groups of Halachot related to foreign-worship in the part of Yoreh De'ah (I mean to Halachot of Star-Worship, Halachot of Star-Worshippers’ Statutes, Halachot of Time-Observer and Enchanter), the pair of words "foreign-worship" is not mentioned at all! Furthermore, throughout Karo’s entire idolatrous table, the pair of words "foreign-worship" is mentioned only twice, and with abbreviations: A) Orach Chayim, Halachot of Synagogues, mark 210: "Although they mention the F”W, anyways their intention is to refer to the Creator of Heaven and Earth”; B) Choshen Mishpat, Halachot of Damages, Siman 385b: "Pouring the wine of his from to a F”W – does not invalidate it”.

B. About Koshering the Christianity

In Halachot of "Star-Worship" mark 214, 12, Karo the Karaite says this:

"Some say that all these matters are only relevant in that specific time, but in our days, there are no star-worshippers, therefore it is permitted to deal with them on their festival days, lend them money and all other things".

Meaning, according to Karo, the anthropomorphic  trinitarian abominable Christianity is not categorised as "star-worship", and thus it is permitted to deal with them etc., It follows that, Karo the Karaite is practically Koshering anthropomorphism, Shituf and magic and determines that all of these are not categorised as foreign-worship or, as he calls it, are not categorised as "star-worship."

C. About the Respona "Akvat Rochel"

Perhaps it was from God that Karo the Karaite would call his collection of answers "Avkat Rochel", translated as: Merchant’s Powder – hinting that he turned our Torah into a pro-Christian trade religion: by permitting enjoyment of Torah’s honor, by instilling foolishness and magic and by corrupting our Torah with the darkness of the Kabbalah.

And the corruption and distortion of Moshe' Torah are even more severe than direct rebellion against the Lord God, and here are the words of the prophet Shmuel R.I.P on this matter (Sam I. 15, 23): "For rebellion is like the sin of soothsaying, and excessiveness is like iniquity and household gods”. Jonathan (Ben Uzziel) interpreted this verse regarding the addition and subtraction from the laws of the Torah: "Indeed, just as is the punishment of an individual who consults a soothsayer, so is the punishment of a man who refuses to rely on the laws of the Torah, just as the punishment of a nation claiming to follow a Talmudic mistake, and just as the punishment of a man who makes a stronghold by adding to the words of a prophet”, that is to say, the addition and subtraction from the laws of the Torah much worse than direct rebellion against the Mitzvot of the Lord God! For the rebel against the Mitzvot of the Torah is likened to a person who consults with the soothsayers, whose punishment is lashes according to the Torah (And if the consulter did not perform an act, he is also exempt from lashes). But the one who adds or subtracts, i.e., distorts and corrupts the Torah, is likened to a foreign-worshipper whose punishment is death by stoning!

Similarly, RS”G interprets in Proverbs (21, 2):

"'For rebellion is like the sin of soothsaying, and excessiveness is like iniquity and household gods' he said: Just as in discipline [To obey the Mitzvot of the Torah which the Lord God commanded us at Mount Sinai] there is one obedience more important than others, so among transgressions, there is a matter more severe than others: idol-worship, which is 'household gods' is more severe than 'soothsaying' which is one of the forms of wayshowing".
